Great local spot in Albany. Coming from the 626, I miss the variety of Chinese cuisine available. Wojia Hunan Cuisine restaurant is a gem for northern Chinese food. Definitely adding to my rotation of restaurants. Give it a try! Their menu is expansive and has good mix of spicy and non-spicy dishes, banquet and home-cooked style dishes, and has pictures of their popular dishes. If needed, their menu mentions they also allow customization (vegetarian, less sodium, spice levels, etc). Interior is clean and large. Staff are friendly. We tried the steamed pork ribs with sticky rice (non-spicy), pork belly with vegetables (non-spicy), and spicy beef and tripe. All were delicious and balanced in flavor. Portions are large. Price was decent - $54 before tip for 3 dishes.

An east bay treasure, nestled one one of the best streets in Albany! A wonderful place for a group meal. It's important for someone with medium spice tolerance like me to have a well balanced meal, so here's my favs in order of least to most spicy: - Crispy Shrimp with Tea Leaves - the crispy tea bits are so yummy - Farmer Bowl - Sauteed pork, mushroom, fungus, and the key here to cutting the heat is - the scrambled egg - Glutinous Rice Ball - crispy molten deliciousness - the lard cuts the heat lol - Hunan Spicy Chicken - looks outrageous - don't be scared! - crispy fried chicken - Mothers Recipe - ground pork with a distinct flavor of dried radish and some pickled beans - Any of the fish dishes - they are all good but very fiery You can also order a fresh soy milk if you're really suffering from the sweats! Service is always on point and the dining hall is rambunctious on the weekends.

Very delicious and authentic Hunan food! The glutinous rice ball is an absolute must. So is the chicken with bamboo shoots. Highly recommend this place for anyone who likes spicy Chinese food!

Dinner with a baby and toddler is no easy task but the staff here were thoughtful and really made it as easy as possible for us, getting us break proof containers, cups and spoons and being very understanding about the tornado of rice that ended up all over the floor and high chair. We somehow survived and even managed to get food in our mouths in the whole process. I think this is one of the more authentic Chinese restaurants around, not to mention shinier and nicer than most. We had toothpick lamb, eggplant with green beans, Yang Chow fried rice, Jellyfish with peanuts, and fried glutenous balls. Everything was quite tasty, very clean and not at all greasy. Surprisingly, the jellyfish and peanuts was the highlight of the meal for me. Most things on the menu are listed as spicy, but they can definitely tone it down so that those who can't handle spice can eat it. The fried rice was toddler approved, as evidenced by the gigantic mess that resulted from him trying to shovel rice in his mouth. ~ $100 before tax/tip for 4 Adults plus hungry toddler is a great deal for some of the best Chinese around.

We ordered A06. Poached Chicken with Chili Sauce as appetizer it's very tasty spicy level just right. D08. Glutinous Rice Ball is a very interesting dish somewhat chewy, little spicy and mild sweet inside. D25. Toothpick Lamb is my favorite it's a must order dish. D02. Chilled Flounder Fillets is tasty but for us it's not spicy enough.

This is probably my favorite Albany restaurant! I love their hunan lamb, beef, veggie dishes like pea sprouts and bok choy, smoked pork fried rice, fried chicken, etc. The only thing I do not like is that they sometimes throw corn in dishes. Not a fan and hate getting it as a surprise. The "preserved vegetable" with the pork belly was just steamed bok choy. Meh. I guess it cuts the deliciously fatty pork, but the veggie was nothing special.

Delicious smoke rice. Unique flavors like I have never had before from rice. Pea sprouts really good as well. Spring rolls had good flavor from the the roll but not much filling. Hunan spicy chicken good. About 1/2 meat and 1/2 chilies. Chicken pieces fried and small pieces. Overall a very good Chinese restaurant with unique flavors. 4 dishes $58 plus tax and tip.
